ARTIST: Br. Mickey McGrath, OSFS

ARTWORK NARRATIVE:

Today is a day for all the children of God to sing for joy. Christ, our Savior, is born today in a humble stable.

It’s a day to look beyond the star-filled night and humble surroundings of his birth. It’s a day to linger only briefly on the gentle and quiet setting. There is more here than a tender picture of happiness, more than a sweet newborn surrounded by his loving mother and protective father.

Today is a day to lift our eyes to the heavens and to see and believe in the unseen and the incredible. It’s a day to see in Jesus the one promised to our fallen parents, the descendant of Eve who will crush the serpent’s head. This is the King whose reign will be without end. This is Jesus, the only begotten Son of God.

See in Yonder Manger Low

See in yonder manger low, Born for us on earth below,
See the gentle Lamb appears, Promised from eternal years.
Hail, O ever- blessed morn; Hail redemption's happy dawn;
Sing through all Jerusalem: "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

Lo, within a stable lies He who built the starry skies,
He who, throned in height sublime, Sits amid the cherubim.
Hail, O ever- blessed morn; Hail redemption's happy dawn;
Sing through all Jerusalem: "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

Sacred Infant, all divine, What a tender love was Thine,
Thus to come from highest bliss Down to such a world as this.
Hail, O ever- blessed morn; Hail redemption's happy dawn;
Sing through all Jerusalem: "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

Teach, oh, teach us, holy Child, By Thy face so meek and mild,
Teach us to resemble Thee In Thy sweet humility.
Hail, O ever- blessed morn; Hail redemption's happy dawn;
Sing through all Jerusalem: "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
