Artwork Narrative:
At 8,042 ft., Cerro Summit, east of Montrose, Colorado is a place for local recreation. Snowfall accumulates more quickly here than in town resulting in a small ski area with a rope tow in the 1930’s, its current popularity as a local sledding area and water storage for irrigation; “The Cimarron Ditch.”
My interests in the area are as a good training area for my bicycling, its history as part of the Old Spanish Trail and the scenery. This painting is of juniper and brush near the Summit after a good snow dump in the area.
