Saint Ignatius was on his way from Vicenza to Rome when he had a vision of Christ, who told him "I will be favorable to you at Rome." It was in Rome that Loyola and his companions formed themselves into a religious order that the Pope approved in 1540.

Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish Basque Catholic priest and theologian, who co-founded the religious order called the Society of Jesus and became its first Superior General at Paris in 1541.

His feast day is July 31.
