This image was inspired by the most famous of all Russian icons, The Hospitality of Abraham by Andrei Rublev. The icon depicts the three angels who visited Abraham as described in Genesis 18, though it is widely recognized as an icon of the Holy Trinity. The genius of this depiction far exceeds our customary symbols of the Trinity; it suggests the richness of the loving communion between the three persons, in which we are invited to participate.
